Yoga and Wellness Retreats in Paradise: Costa Rica Vacations that Leave you Healthier

A new way of vacationing is becoming all the rage as a younger generation of travelers has asked hotels and resorts to offer much more than its parents’ generation.

This type of tourist wants more from a vacation than just sightseeing, and one of the answers to this need has been hotels and resorts specializing in yoga and/or wellness.

Yoga and Wellness Retreat Centers are becoming more and more popular throughout tropical areas like Costa Rica and Hawaii.

Beach towns in Costa Rica with a focus on tourism, such as Montezuma or Santa Teresa in the southern Nicoya Peninsula, have multiple resorts to learn yoga, and the hotels and retreat centers compete over which can create the most spectacular yoga space.

YogaRetreat Centers such as Anamaya in Montezuma, FlorBlanca in Santa Teresa have beautiful decks for practicing Yoga, usually overlooking the ocean or jungle . These yoga shalas often look great in photos, which help a yoga retreat to get guests, because so many pick a hotel mostly on the photos they see on the internet.

Teachers of yoga from a variety of other places have traveled to Costa Rica for yoga retreats and have fallen in love with this tropical paradise. Now many work for various hotels and resorts, and some even offer private yoga classes at their homes or in one of many Costa Rica rental houses.

Thanks to this, many villages in Costa Rica that are popular with tourists have a large variety of yoga choices. The surf towns especially, such as Santa Teresa, often have many choices when it comes toYoga. And sometimes, while the men surf, the girls do yoga.

Yoga is often just a part of a larger type of vacation hotels known as Wellness Centers. These places offer their customers a chance not only to relax, but to eat a healthy diet, participate in internal cleansing, try meditation, and learn about healthy lifestyles.

Participants in wellness retreats often return to their home lives not only happier and healthier but with new knowledge about their bodies and will continue to live more healthfully long after their trip has ended.

At times these wellness retreats start with fasting as part of a cleansing regimen. After a few days with almost nothing to eat but juice, they start to add other foods, such as fruits and veggies. At times they are raw and usually they’re organic.

Along with the improvements in diet, there’s usually an assortment of treatments such as steam sauna, lymph drainage massage, colonic irrigation, acupuncture, and others that are great for detoxing the system.

Visitors who have spent seven days or more at a wellness center usually claim to have more energy, better sleep, and improved skin and eyes. Some centers test the blood of their clients to show the improvement in its chemistry.

When dreaming about your next journey to Costa Rica, you can research a few of the wellness centers instead of the standard hotel chain. Like so many other travelers who have visited these places, you’ll probably return happier and healthier.
