Phlebotomy is described as taking blood from a human and analyzing it to find out what is wrong with the patient. It is recommended that you find an accredited college for your certificate to practice in phlebotomy. Legally a certification is only required by two states; however the market seems to view that you need to be certified to practice. Thus if you don’t go and get your certification, then you will find it difficult to go and get yourself a job.

To get certified as a phlebotomist you need to develop proper training techniques in taking blood and also be able to talk with patients. The majority of the work that you will be doing is to take blood from the veins and draw blood into your needle to capture the blood. There needs to be a high knowledge of vein location, puncture points and comfort to become a phlebotomist.

The phlebotomy training program can last between eighteen and twenty four months depending on the program or the state that you are in. Your training program, if it costs you more, is actually a benefit, because the longer programs allow you a higher degree of education and allows you to demand a higher salary.
You will be taught a variety of theory and practical techniques. You will get to learn to basics of taking blood, then analyzing what is in that blood so that you can help the pateint with their problems. You will also cover anatomy, safety and patient interaction.
The exam can be taken once you graduate from your phlebotomy training course. Those who have not done any training must redo their theory test when they want to go back to work again. Don’;t worry if you fail your first test, you can do it again later..
After passing your Phlebotomy Training Course it will be easy to get a job.. Most courses these days offer job placement, so it should be quite easy to get a job anyway.
