Winclear Review
Winclear is very simple to use and the price reflects that. It has a file shredder feature that meets the government military standards and does a good job of deleting files for the average PC user. Although it has a lot, it misses one feature that is a pretty standard feature for good privacy controls programs which is the stealth mode option. Stealth mode, simply means running the program icon in the system tray. It is also not fully compatible with some common programs like Internet Explorer 7 or Skype.
Effectiveness: Winclear can clear the type of internet history that it claims to witch is better than some history erasers, but compared to others, winclear is not very effective. It lacks compatibility with Internet Explorer 7 and many instant messanger services. It is however, up to US military standards on the level at with it can delete data. The US military standard is a certain numbers of overwrites that must be done when data is deleted.
Winclear is extremely easy to use due to it’s lack of features. All you have to do is follow it’s simple point and click instructions and all data that Winclear is capable of deleting will be erased. After going through those instructions, your data will be erased to Winclear’s full potential.
At $37 dollars Winclear is one of the cheaper privacy software programs you can buy. It however does not stack up to other privacy software at the same value and for that reason we can not say Winclear is the best value. Make sure to look at your other options before you purchase Winclear.
Do we recommend Winclear? No, Winclear is a very simple program that lacks the features and effectiveness of other internet history erasers at the same price range. We tested many differnet history erasers besides Winclear and found others to work better.
