Will Meditation Put An End To Your Smoking?
What? Is there such a thing as “smoking meditation”?
Definitely Not. But these subjects are related to one another. Personal success stories and recent studies attribute meditation as a key factor in people’s attempts to quit smoking…And helping folks say bye-bye to smoking for good!
Meditation is beneficial for overall health and some of the benefits of meditation include reducing stress levels and welcoming relaxation and mindfulness.
When people are are overwhelmed and stressed out, they often turn to smoking for temporary relief. Meditation can help you (or your loved ones) quit smoking because it focuses on reducing stress and promotes a healthy state of mind.
Meditation allows the mind to relax and focus on the present. Deep breathing calms the mind and helps to rid the body of unnecessary stress. The less stress, the less likely the chance to reach for that cigarette. And even if the thought to smoke crosses the mind, meditation induces a healthy state of mind. The mind is naturally more calm and present and therefore, the chances of making the proper decision (not smoking) increase 10 fold.
Visualization also comes into play. When meditation is paired with visualization, magical things happen. Visualize yourself (or loved one) as a non-smoker. Picture yourself in a social setting having fun, conversing and laughing…cigarette free. Imagine running up a flight of stairs or going for a jog and having the ability to breath freely with ease. Take a deep breath and see yourself full of life, looking healthy with an abundance of energy.
Remember that making the decision to cut smoking out of your life is probably one of the harder choices you’ll have to make. That being said, reach out to your support system and try more than one method to help you with your smoke-free journey. Incorporate meditating into your daily routine and set the intention to live smoke-free.
