What Is The True Story About Acai?

If you spend any time online these days, as I assume you must, you cannot have missed all of the buzz about acai berries. This South American fruit has become a big hit with many Americans who are concerned abuot eating healthy food to lose weight, live longer, or just improve their health. But what are these little blue berries, and are they really that much better than other kinds of fruit we eat?

Some of the most well known tv personalities have mentioned acai berries too. But some of these same people have also started lawsuits against advertisers who used their names in ads. As the attention grows, it has to make us wonder if there is anything behind the claims.

There is, of course, some truth to health claims about acai berries. They are fairly low in calories, and provide some protein, fiber, and antioxidants. Are they better than eating more common fruit, like blueberries? Maybe they conitain a higher concentration of antioxidants, but otherwise, that could be a point to argue. But let us just say that it is true to claim that acai berries are healthy.

But I am sad to say that I have not seen any evidence that acai berries are a secret to health, weight loss, or long life. While a diet rich in healthy foods can lead to these things, there is no reason to think they are the key to a magic fountain of youth. That probably takes an overall healthy lifestyle. A lifestyle like that would include exercise, a good diet, reducing bad habits, and some good luck.

As smart consumers, you also need to be careful of the way you purchase acai berries. We have seen an increase in consumer complaints, legal investigations, and even prosecutions because of some shady sellers. Many free trial offers were followed up by costly rebills that were hard to cancel. A lot of major credit card companies have refused to process these charges now, but a lot of people have been hurt in the past.

There are some very honest online retail sources too. But just make sure you have researched the sellers so you only pay for what you get.
