The Importance of pH Levels
There are approximately 75 trillion cells in the human body. These cells are not all the same; they come in different forms and perform different functions in the body. Each cell is important, so you want to have as many healthy cells as possible.
Your overall health is determined by the health of its individual cells, which are the building blocks for all the systems in the body. If you have healthy cells in your body you will have healthy tissue, and if you have healthy tissue you will have healthy organs.
Anything that enters your body can affect the health of a cell. Obviously then, anything you eat influences cell health, but also anything that soaks through your skin and anything you breathe in can affect the health of a cell as well.
The cells in your body are in constant communication with each other. All of your systems work together to perform complex tasks within the body. The body’s pH balance is responsible for regulating the functions of your cells, and that is why maintaining this balance is important.
The optimal pH level for the body is between 7.35 and 7.45 on the pH scale. If you are within this range, your cells will be able to function better and will be more efficient at warding off diseases.
If pH levels are not in the optimal range, your body will keep working to adjust the pH until it achieves the proper balance. To accomplish this, the body will pull resources from other cells in the body to try and balance things out.
If acid, meaning a lower than normal pH level, is allowed to build up in the body, it can cause a variety of health problems. This is because the acid begins to corrode tissue which can stop cellular systems from functioning correctly.
Fortunately, there are changes you can make to help your body achieve optimal pH levels and become healthier as a result. The biggest factor in the body’s pH level is diet and lifestyle. These two things can be very hard to change and require you to make sacrifices, but in the end you will be a healthier and happier person if you are able to control your body’s pH level.
