Taking That Piles Out
There are available treatment for taking care of those unwanted piles. But what if your hemorrhoids need to be removed? In as much as hemorrhoids can be downright embarrassing, we all have to be open-minded about it. Often, failure to have it checked leads to a very serious hemorrhoid case. Sometimes, you need to surgically remove it to give a lasting relief.
Since hemorrhoids (or piles) are inflamed veins in the anus or lower rectum, they can be very painful, sensitive, itchy and may cause rectal bleeding. Before it gets worst, you need might want to consider seeking your doctor’s advice for treatment.
Hospital facilities have been offering traditional hemorrhoid surgical procedures. The procedures are performed below the dentate line, affecting many sensitive nerve endings causing severe pain. Here are some suggestions for your hemorrhoid surgical procedure -
1. The conventional hemorrhoidectomy, surgery is used to take out hemorrhoids. This treatment surgically removes the excess tissue that causes bleeding and hemorrhoid protrusion. It is done under general anesthesia and may require the patient to stay in the hospital for a few days and a period of inactivity.
2. Laser hemorrhoidectomies another operative procedure but does not offer any advantage aside from taking out the hemorrhoids . The treatment is a bit pricey and painful. However, this is a fuss-free procedure that can be done in your surgeon’s clinic, an outpatient or an ambulatory operation center.
3. Cyrotherapy or freezing the hemorrhoidal tissue is another option which has been around for 2 decades now. Most doctors don’t recommend it anymore since the treatment is very painful.
4. BICAP, or bipolar diathermy coagulation, and direct current, which is low current electric stimulation, are procedures that shrink the piles and cause the hemorrhoidal tissue to die. I guess this procedure isn’t as common as hemorrhoidectomy since the procedure sounds really scary .
Neither of the last two treatments I’ve mentioned gained popularity amoung hemorrhoid patients because of their known procedural pain.
You can chose from any of these treatments that would suit you best. Consult a physician that you are comfortable with and discuss your possible options. If you can still stand the discomforts of your hemorrhoids, then try the sitz bath or prescribed creams and medication. However, if you think you need to take it out, go to your doctor and have him take your piles out. It would be best to act now then regret you didn’t later.
