Do eyelashes grow back is actually quite a common question and the answer is yes, your eyelash growth is usually the same as the hair on your head. However, it doesn’t necessarily follow that if you have full, thick hair on your head that your eyelashes will be full and thick as well.
There are several factors that affect eyelash growth, trauma (mental or physical), age and your normal care routine to name but three. Let’s look at those three one-by-one.
Should you be unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident, the shock of that accident even if it does not involve your eyes, can stop the growth for a while. Likewise, if you are very stressed or depressed this may happen as well. Of course you would be more concerned if you had an accident that directly affected your eyelashes, such as getting them singed at a barbeque! These are the times when you may ask yourself, “do eyelashes grow back”. Thankfully, the answer is still yes, and they should grow back normally. The process may take a little longer than normal but you should still see growth within four to eight weeks. When the regrowth starts, this will be usually at the same rate as the growth of the hair on your head.
When you are younger, as with a lot of things, your body is better at regeneration. Age unfortunately not only affects the skin, it will also affect the regeneration process of the eyelashes and you will find your eyelashes thinning out considerable. You may like to try an eyelash grower serum which will help, some have been scientifically tested and growth measured. The serums are applied to base of the eyelashes with a mascara wand. This is done every night after removing makeup for a couple of weeks, so they are very simple to use. Unfortunately, you will have to repeat the process every couple of months, but the effects are worth it. You can also try using the serums once your lashes have started to grow again following a trauma.
If you do not care for your eyes properly you will of course end up damaging your lashes. A lot of people go for a hurried wipe, and drag and pull out their eyelashes as they do. Be gentle with your eyes and think about what you are doing. Unless unavoidable, NEVER sleep in your make-up! Sleeping in your makeup is quite unattractive in the morning, and your eyes will suffer as well.
