Reasons For Heel Surgery

Heel spur surgery falls into 2 different types. One is invasive and the other is non invasive. Invasive surgery means it will be in some kind where there is an incision made into the skin which is followed by some mode of surgical process on the bones or tissue. Non invasive sort surgery does not include any incisions into the skin or one part of the body.

Heel Spur Surgery – Invasive type

Surgery of heel spur is at times the last resort for many heel spur suffers. Heel spur surgery is frequently only considered after conservative treatment options have been used without success. Severe pain from a heel spur can often be very difficult to tolerate, and every movement can be almost unbearable.

Treating foot pain by heel spur surgery can be done in a two different ways. One way is to cut slits are made around the heel. Through these slits in the edge of the heel a little camera is inserted which allows the surgeon to see the injured area. He then detaches, or cuts, the plantar fascia ligament from the heel bone using a small knife, relieving stress and pain and allowing new fascia tissue to develop in the space that was created. With this practice, the tension that created plantar fasciitis or heel spurs is eliminated.

There are also other heel spur surgeries that are performed in a slightly different way. In other treatments the complete plantar fascia may not be cut. Alternatively, only a portion of the ligament is detached. Anyhow, it is a good idea to talk to your orthopaedic surgeon to learn about each one individual procedure that is available for your situation and to choose the one that is most right for you.

Operations for plantar fasciitis have continuously had a bad reputation and with good basis. The operation to cut the plantar fascia disturbs the mechanics of the foot and can result in its own problems. This operation is specially designed to safeguard normal foot mechanics and is intended for at dealing with the deterioration of the plantar fascia. This is done under anaesthetic in a hospital operating room through a 2-3 cm cut over the inner aspect of the heel and off the weight-bearing skin.

Heel Spurs Surgery – Non-Invasive

Research workers have come up with a noble methodology of using pulses of high-pressure sound waves, for stimulating healing procedure of the body. These pulses can pass through the skin and whilst they are focused on the affected area, can stimulate the increase of the new blood vessels in the affected area. This in turn leads to supply of extra oxygen and nutrients to the cells near injured area. This heel spur healing also assists in generation of new body cell and faster healing.

The laser surgery for heel spurs is one more non-invasive practice, that is has the promise of replacing invasive surgery for heel spurs. This procedure as well stimulates the growth of new tissues in the affected area, by using low intensity laser beams.

While, both of the above procedure are non-invasive the heel spurs surgery recovery time is very less. In reality, this process can be carried out with much ease and the patient does not have to to be hospitalized.
