Never forget to include proper workout clothes. Make sure your cotton t-shirts and shorts aren’t the baggy kind, to prevent injuring yourself while using fitness machines. It’s fine to wear track pants if you’re not comfortable showing your legs. For men, a jockstrap is important. For women, a sports bra is recommended to be worn.
Wear a pair of quality cross-training footwear. Go for cotton socks that only go as high as your ankles. When hitting the shower room, always wear a pair of clogs or slippers. That’s because it’s easy to catch athlete’s foot and a host of other infections in there. Remember to bring your own set of toiletries as well.
Having a towel with you is important. First, you spare yourself from getting someone else’s germs. Second, you prevent others from picking up your own germs. There are fitness centers that don’t provide their subscribers with free towels. If such is the case, then all the more you need to pack your own.
It’s important to stay hydrated as you exercise. It’s essential to have a handy bottle of water with you. Bringing your own will also save you from the hassle of falling in line with the rest at the water fountain. When you have emptied it, simply replace it at the gym’s water fountain.
Leave your necklaces, crystal earrings and other fashion accessories at home. The goal of going to the gym is to get fit, and not train to be a fashion model. All that you’ll ever need is a wristwatch, preferably out of plastic and water resistant. To help keep boredom at bay, you may bring your handy MP3 player with you, plus corresponding earphones.
What additional items you need to bring to the fitness center depends on your workout routines. For instance, gloves are important for weight training. Extra t-shirt, shorts, underwear and socks are necessary for intense cardio exercises. Having all the essentials with you at the gym will help you stay in focus much better.
