How To Increase Heart Health

Lots of people do cardio to lose more weight. But should this be your primary reason for doing cardio? After all, research has shown that it’s also a great way to increase heart health.

But for most people, simply knowing that something is good isn’t enough motivation to get the ball rolling.

Thus, without further ado, here’s the top reasons why cardio is great for your heart:

1. Less clogging: Your arteries need to have a nice level of blood flow in order to prevent clots and other blockages. And cardio is a great way to get this streamlined flow of blood.

2. More muscle: As you place more and more demands on your system, your heart will increase in both size and power. This means that it will be able to pump the same amount of blood with smaller amounts of effort.

3. Less arterial pressure: In other words, doing high intensity cardio can reduce your blood pressure. And remember that bouts of high blood pressure can really damage the inside lining of your arteries. Think of a garden house that is being subjected to high amounts of water pressure, over the long run its bound to wear out.

4. More HDL (good) cholesterol: HDL is the king of heart health. It’s a primary molecule that scavenges harmful substances in your blood. Moreover, populations with the highest amounts of HDL tend to live the longest.

5. Better insulin control: Excess levels of sugar and excess levels of insulin can wreak havoc on the elasticity of your blood levels. And compromised elasticity is not good for your heart health. You see, the more elastic your arteries are the healthier your heart will be.

6. Improved body composition: Being overweight places a strain on the heart, the research is clear here. Also, excess fat releases harmful substances into your general circulation. Fortunately, cardio is a great way to prevent this.

By now you should be convinced and motivated that cardio is a great tool for increasing heart health in addition to many other aspects of your life.

Now the key here is to simply start taking action now and not wait. Because if you wait too long, your motivation will fade!
