Finding The Cure For Herpes

Herpes is not something that anybody likes to have, especially as a noticeable cold sore affixed to your face. Fortunately, there are some researchers working very hard to develop a drug that will provide quicker diagnosis and therefore enhance the cure for herpes. Although the drugs for herpes can’t make it go away instantly, they can reduce the amount and length of the herpes outbreak.

When you think of intercourse, do you think about all types of intercourse and sexual activity that you can engage in? Do you realize that it can be transmitted by skin-to-skin contact as well? Did you know that it is possible self-infect? In order to take necessary precaution to protect yourself and your loved ones, you need to be fully aware of the ways you can transmit this disease.

Herpes virus is indicated as HSV (Herpes simplex virus). There are HSV1 and HSV2; the last one is the genital herpes virus. It acts in a much way the same as HSV1 (which produces cold sores), i.e. after an initial herpes outbreak of genital blisters, the virus (HSV2) also remains dormant in nearby nerves and can start acting again later in life. The symptoms of reactivated virus which causes genital herpes, are like those of first outbreak of HSV1, by they are less severe in general. But in different people the virus may be acting differently. The outbreaks may be more frequent or more severe in different people.

If you are a carrier of the herpes virus, whether oral or genital, it is important to remember that herpes transmission can occur even during the times when there is no visible outbreak. As a general rule, it is best to avoid skin-to-skin contact with someone when lesions are present. Take necessary precaution between outbreaks as well to keep the virus from spreading. For instance, if you have a visible cold sore, avoid kissing someone, especially children, due to their weaker immune systems. Another way to take precaution is by using a condom during intercourse between outbreaks.

To avoid anybody else getting herpes from you, it is best that you wash your hands thoroughly and not share any of your clothes with anyone. You are able to spread herpes to other people at the time of outbreak. If pregnant, you need to consult a doctor immediately if you have a herpes infection, as it can be harmful to the fetus. An active genital herpes infection is also something that should have the attention of a physician immediately.

Herpes transmission can also occur by touching an affected area and then touching an unaffected area. Yes, you can self-infect another area of your body. Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after coming in contact with sores. This goes for anybody. If you aren’t sanitizing your hands, you can infect anyone around, especially kids. If you have children, be extremely cautious. Avoid touching their eyes, or face, because they could contract not only oral herpes, but ocular herpes as well.

Finding a cure for herpes is something that is being worked on, it is just a slow process. I’ve always heard that something good is well worth the wait.
