Fast Fatloss for Summer
Being overweight is not just an issue of appearances. Excess weight can seriously damage your health, and reduce your quality of life. Shedding that fat brings so many benefits including more energy, optimism, a boost to your self confidence and admiring glances from passers-by. Now that summer is on its way – we are all suddenly realizing that maybe we could all do with shedding a few pounds.
Talk to your doctor and discuss your chosen weight loss program. See if they think it is right for you, and even if it is safe. Your doctor will notice if anything about the plan seems risky or extreme. There is no point damaging your internal organs in a vain bid to get healthier. Also make sure that the fatloss program is balanced between quantity of food, quality of food and amount of physical activity.
The following are just the basics of what you should look for.
First of all take a good look at what has got you fat – and that includes your lifestyle, your food choices, your habits and opinions about food, and also how you cope with stress. If you can face all issues at once then results can come fast.
Second: Set realistic goals. You shouldn’t really aim for more than 2 pounds of fat loss per week, and you shouldn’t consider a diet that is full of foods you hate. Similarly there is no point setting exercise goals that you could never achieve. It’s much better to get reasonably slim than to aim for ‘super fit model’ looks and then fail. You can go for the model body after you have reached the first goal!
Thirdly remember to keep your health in mind and listen to your body. If you start feeling unusual, go get checked out by your doctor. It may be nothing serious, but since you are not medically qualified to say, then it’s best to leave that to an expert. Also take the exercise step-by-step. Don’t try to go from couch potato to olympic sprinter overnight – a heart attack is not our goal here.
Fourthly: Eat as much fresh vegetables and fibre as you can. keep your meats lean and grilled, and keep away from all that junk food. Junk food is not going to help your diet progress. Once you are at ideal weight you can have the occasional junk meal – if you really must, but during the diet your meals need to be all wholesome and fresh.
Fifth: Keep away from fried foods especially deep-fried. Wherever possible grill your meat and eat your veggies slightly steamed or raw. Try to make meals from scratch as pre-processed foods are low in vital nutrients and usually high in salt and chemicals that could block your progress.
Sixth: Take lots of fluid. During weight loss extra strain is put on your liver and kidneys, and they will need all the help they can get. Heavily cut down on your alcohol consumption too. Drinking at least six to eight glasses of water a day will keep the body hydrated. Since weight loss depends on how the body eliminates body wastes, the body must stay hydrated in order to shed the fat.
The above techniques may not seem much, but their power is in their combined effect. Together they will take your weight loss efforts to the next level. Miss one vital component and you will severely reduce your successes.
Keep heart throughout the diet. Remember that it’s a short term thing and that you will soon be able to eat normally. Note that eating normally does not mean eating as you did before. Your new lifestyle won’t be so strict as the diet – but your old habits would only result in taking you back to where you started.
