Fan Of Kevin Smith? Watch Cop Out!

So Cop Out was not written by Kevin Smith and that makes his followers very skeptical as it was his very first movie that he directed and not written. And it is also his very first movie produced by a major movie studio. But many of you true followers can still catch those glimpses that make his movies definitely original.

Can you picture these two actors working together as police officers, Tracy Morgan and Bruce Willis? Surprisingly they worked amazingly well together. They both play police officers for New York City, and have a very hilarious method of working together which you will see immediately in the beginning of the movie. In many spots of the movie, it looks like Bruce Willis is trying to keep from laughing the entire time with Tracy Morgan and Sean William Scott.

We already know that the actors are playing cops as the main characters of the movie. They are placed on suspension for not catching a criminal and during that pursuit causing a large neighborhood shootout. Being suspended for a month with out pay, Jimmy, Bruce Willis’ character, is short of cash to pay for his only daughters wedding, and decides to sell a baseball card worth a lot of money. While he is taking that card to be looked at, he is then robbed by Sean William Scott’s character, Dave. Sean William Scott is well known for his parts in the American Pie movies and he definitely keeps his comedy up in this movie as well.

And guess who plays Jimmy’s ex-wife’s new husband, the one and only Jason Lee, that many of the Smith followers should remember from all of his other films. As usual, Lee plays the perfect scumbag! Jimmy insists on selling the card to get the money to pay for the wedding so Lee’s character, Roy does not take all the credit for it.

After a series of twists and turns the two cops get involved in a major drug ring, and with out spoiling the entire movie you will have to see what happens next. With the great action and comedy, you will never guess the ending!

For those true followers of Smith, you can still get that feel that it is one of his movies. The hilarious sexual jokes, the way it was filmed and even the music chosen to undertone the film itself, it absolutely speaks Kevin Smith. And if that is not reasoning enough for you, he chose to direct it because of the two cops relationship reminded him of Dante and Randal.

This film was released in the United States originally in February 26, 2010 and then again in the United Kingdom in May of 2010. Before it was officially released on DVD and pay per view, it had grossed about 53 million. With a budget of about 37 million, it is not a massive money making film, but very worth seeing.

If you want to see something original and out of the ordinary of Smith’s world, seeing Cop Out is a definite. It is worth every one of the 107 minutes it is on.
